Waiting on Wednesday: Spelled by Betsy Schow
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This weeks book that I'm desperate to get my hands on:
Publication: June 2, 2015
Genre: YA, Fantasy, Retelling, Romance
Goodreads Summary
Fairy Tale Survival Rule #32: If you find yourself at the mercy of a wicked witch, sing a romantic ballad and wait for your Prince Charming to save the day.
Yeah, no thanks. Dorthea is completely princed out. Sure being the crown princess of Emerald has its perks—like Glenda Original ball gowns and Hans Christian Louboutin heels. But a forced marriage to the brooding prince Kato is so not what Dorthea had in mind for her enchanted future.
Talk about unhappily ever after.
Trying to fix her prince problem by wishing on a (cursed) star royally backfires, leaving the kingdom in chaos and her parents stuck in some place called "Kansas." Now it's up to Dorthea and her pixed off prince to find the mysterious Wizard of Oz and undo the curse...before it releases the wickedest witch of all and spells The End for the world of Story.

I do love to read re-tellings but I often find myself really disappointed with them. The Lunar Chronicles series seems to be the exception to that rule though. I am intrigued by this one though and will probably check it out so thanks for the recommendation!

Eeekk..I've been enjoying retellings lately, and this one sounds good. I knew before even reading the synopsis that it was a retelling
ReplyDeleteRetellings are actually one of my all time faves! I haven't read this one, but I feel like I"ve seen it somewhere before. Plus, I don't think I could forget a cover like that. SHINY!

New follower! I saw this one on NetGalley or Edelweiss (I can't remember which) and I almost requested it, but I decided to wait so I can catch up on some of the books I already have. Hope you love this one!

The premise sounds a little silly, but that's kind of one of the things drawing me to this story/retelling. The other thing is the cover. Wow. I love that cover and also, I want those shoes! lol! Cool pick, and thanks for adding to my TBR pile!
