My Review
I received this book through Revell Reads in exchange for an honest review.
Michael is an undercover cop who is in danger of being killed after his identity is revealed to the criminals he was hunting down. Now not only does he have the cartel after him but the cops are after him too. His only hope is the daughter of the man who wants him dead.
The character's in Hidden Agenda were well-written, the struggles and pain that they felt, felt so real that I couldn't help but sympathize with them and root for them. Michael is a cop with worries just like the rest of us but he pushed himself to the limits even when he felt like he was fighting a losing battle. He grew doubts and was exhausted of trying to fight the corruption in his police department but even then he kept on fighting which is what made him so realistic.
Olivia the daughter of Antonio Valez the cartel drug lord was a truly strong heroine and not only physically but emotionally as well. When she found out her father was a criminal and a drug lord at that, she felt so betrayed and that really hit home for me. Even when it was her own father and it hurt her so deeply to find out the truth she accepted it and decided to help Michael bring down her own father. To me that made her really courageous in my eyes to have the guts to do the right thing even when it would destroy the only other family she has left apart from her teenage brother Ian.
The plot was action-packed and full of suspense that it kept me glued to the book. I was looking for a nice blend of mystery and romance which is exactly what I got and more. There was murder, running, kidnapping, and betrayal all rolled into this book it was a complete roller coaster ride. The romance in this book was sweet and fit right in. The love between Olivia and Michael grew gradually and it was a nice change for me. My only complaint is that at the end of the book it felt like everything fell into place way too quickly and easily. I was expecting a bit more of a show down but that's just my opinion.
This book is a perfect read for those who love romance, suspense and a great mystery!
