Goodreads Summary

When Ileni lost her magic, she lost everything: her place in society, her purpose in life, and the man she had expected to spend her life with. So when the Elders sent her to be magic tutor to a secret sect of assassins, she went willingly, even though the last two tutors had died under mysterious circumstances.

But beneath the assassins’ caves, Ileni will discover a new place and a new purpose… and a new and dangerous love. She will struggle to keep her lost magic a secret while teaching it to her deadly students, and to find out what happened to the two tutors who preceded her. But what she discovers will change not only her future, but the future of her people, the assassins… and possibly the entire world.

My Review

Assassins, the reason why I decided to read this book in the first place. Yes, I know how that sounds but that's the truth and I'm glad I picked this book up. Death Sworn is action-packed and full of mystery and twists that will have you reading far longer than you would have because you just want to know everything already. At least that's how it was for me, I'm not a very patient person.

Ileni the 17 year old girl whose sent into a cave full of assassins to find out who had killed the previous two teachers that taught the assassins magic. I loved Ileni, she was afraid of being in a cave full of assassins although she did put up a brave front she wasn't stupid. She knew they were killer's and was truly afraid and that to me made her not only believable but also very brave because she didn't let her fear control her. She had a job to do and by god was she going to do it even if it got her killed.

Sorin, the assassin sent to guard her and also her love interest though the romance was the slow blooming kind of romance. The kind that turns from sort of friendship to love which I find so amazing. Sorin feels nothing when he kills and yet grows to care for Ileni, I don't know about anyone else but I love Sorin. He has such a cold demeanor but you can definitely tell he's protective of Ileni though he acts like, she means nothing to him. I loved it when Ileni would make him smile even just a little bit. There was such chemistry between the two of them and I want more! (I also want an assassin of my own, preferably Sorin.)

Death Sworn was a pretty dark read but also a very fast read if that makes sense. The twist at the end was great and I loved it because I didn't see it coming but......well I guess I just need to get my hands on the sequel. There's a lot of action going on and secrets being kept and people hidden in the dark and it all happened in the assassins cave!

A definite must read or re-read in my case!
